For parents whose children swim in competitive teams, training as a competition judge is strongly recommended. Participation in competitions requires the provision of the club's own judges.

The jury for a competition consists of:

• timekeepers

• finish judges

• reversing judges

• swimming judges

• starters

• referees

In order to properly conduct a swimming competition with 6 lanes, a total of at least 24 judges is required.

According to the requirements of the Hessian Swimming Association, referees must also:

• Be a member of the swimming club.

• Be at least 14 years old.

The training consists of a theoretical part including a written examination and a practical instruction.

The theory lasts1 day, the practical part 2 days (4 sections).
